Serenity Essential Oil Blend

Here’s a blend which is said to help clear the mind, awaken the senses and promote inner peace and serenity;

  • 3 drops helichrysum oil
  • 2 drops clary-sage oil
  • 1 drop lavender oil

Allow this blend to evaporate in your aromatherapy lamp to help calm, relax and alleviate stress. (Or you can use a diffuser).

Aromatherapy Blends to Help with Anxiety

The below blends can help during times of anxiety. When selecting and using oils, be sure to follow all safety precautions and remember that aromatherapy should not be used as a substitute for proper medical treatment.

Blend #1

  • 1 drop Rose
  • 3 drops Sandalwood
  • 1 drop Orange

Blend #2

  • 3 drops Bergamot
  • 2 drops Clary Sage

Blend #3

  • 1 drop Lavender
  • 1 drop Ylang Ylang
  • 3 drops Grapefruit

Blend #4

  • 2 drops Frankincense
  • 1 drop Lemon
  • 2 drops Jasmine or Neroli

Sedative Tincture Recipe

Place 1 and a half ounces of chamomile and 1 and a half Tsps of powdered peppermint into a half quart of vodka. Allow to steep for 2 weeks, shaking daily. Strain and bottle. Use as a sedative for adults.

Dosage is half a dropperful under the tongue, as needed.

Oil Blend to Calm Anxiety

  • 6 drops Neroli
  • 20 drops Bergamot
  • 2 drops Rose Otto
  • 1 drop Linden Blossom
  • 4 drops Jasmine Grandiflora Absolute
  • 2 drops Ylang ylang

Add to two ounces of Carrier Oil, or add a few drops to the Aroma Lamp.

Anti-Anxiety Aromatherapy Blend

  • 3 drops Neroli
  • 2 drops Patchouli
  • 2 drops Geranium
  • 2 drops Rose
  • 2 drops Ylang Ylang
  • 1 drop Frankincense
  • 1 drop Bergamot

Add essential oils to a clean dark glass bottle. Gently blend. Add a few drops to a scent ring, or drizzle some into a piece of aromatherapy jewelry, inhale directly from the bottle (don’t get any on your nose), or add to an Aroma Lamp. You can also add some oil to a cotton ball, place the cotton ball on a plate and let evaporate into a room.

Recipes for Depression

Depression Bath Recipe

  • 2 drops Clary Sage
  • 2 drops Bergamot
  • 2 drops Ylang-Ylang

Add to bath water, mix well.

Cancer Morale Booster Blend

This oil blend was created for a friend who was battling breast cancer. She used it dutifully in her bath, in a massage oil and through inhalation and she found that emotionally and physically it helped her get through her treatment.

  • 2.5 ml Myrtle
  • 2.5 ml Myrrh
  • 2.5 ml Frankincense
  • 2.5 ml Geranium

This blend can be added to a Carrier Oil (in a 1% dilution), diffused directly into the air or utilized in a bath (no more than 5 drops per tub if you are undergoing radiation or chemotherapy treatment).

Essential Oil Blends to Ease Winter Blues (SAD)

Lack of greenery, gray skies, a snow-covered world, reduced activity and the cold temperatures of winter can all lead to what is known as the “Winter Blues.” The Winter Blues involve feelings of Sadness, depression and loss of energy.

The below blends can help ease the symptoms of the winter blues. Citrus oils are emphasized because they are energizing and uplifting oils. Orange, Lemon and Grapefruit oils are inexpensive (especially Orange) and are also favored by many people, so your whole household may enjoy the aroma.

  • Massage – Mix 10 drops of your favorite blend or single essential oil with 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of carrier oil, such as sweet almond or castor oil. Rub some of this oil on your temples and apply to your wrists. If you’re lucky enough to get a massage, have your masseur use this mixture.
  • Diffusion – Many health food stores and even mainstream retailers carry electric diffusers. You simply add drops of essential oil according to the instructions. This gets the scent throughout the room.
  • Bath – Add a teaspoon or so of your massage oil to your bathwater and mix well.

Recipes for Mood

Mood Balancing Bath

  • 2 d. rose oil
  • 2 d. neroli oil
  • 2 d. geranium oil

Add oils to 1/4 cup of epsom salts or baking soda. Add to running bath water and soak for 15-20 minutes. Great for low mood!

Mood Elevating Bath

  • Ylang-Ylang 5 drops
  • Sandalwood 5 drops
  • Grapefruit 5 drops
  • Massage Oil 1 teaspoon (5 ml)

As you prepare your bath, close the window and door to prevent the oil vapors from escaping. Fill the bathtub with warm/hot water. To soften your skin and remove impurities, also dissolve 1 cup of epsom salts in the bath water. Then dilute the essential oils in the Massage Oil. Pour the blend into the water.

Swirl the water to disperse the oil evenly. Enter the bath immediately, since essential oils evaporate quickly. Relax and enjoy the bath for at least 30 minutes to help lift your mood and relax your mind.
