DIY: Natural Glitter, Bath and Shower Gel Recipes

No matter the season, these easy-to-make, all-natural gels are a great way to cleanse and pamper your skin. Make some for yourself and your friends; poured into a pretty bottle, these shower gels would be a great gift, too.

Scented Shower Gel

• 1/2 cup unscented shampoo
• 1/4 cup water
• 3/4 teaspoon salt
• 15 drops fragrance oil
• food coloring ( optional)

Pour shampoo into a bowl and add the water. Stir until its well mixed add the salt and fragrance.

Suggestions for scents:

• Kiwi extract
• Raspberry extract
• Strawberry extract
• Coconut extract
• Vanilla extract

Mix and match or use one alone. I personally like the raspberry and vanilla mix…smells so good!

Make Your Own Cool Shower Gel

• 1/2 cup herbal shampoo (look for one that is detergent-free; avoid labels that list any variation of “sodium lauryl Sulfate”)
• 1/4 to 3/4 cup water
• 3/4 teaspoon salt
• 8 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
• 2 tablespoons Aloe Vera gel

Blend all the ingredients thoroughly, adjusting the amount of water to get the desired consistency. Pour into a bottle or jar. Place a dab of this cooling gel in your hand to use instead of Soap.

Helpful Hints:

Formula may be doubled or tripled to make extra for gifts. And please be sure to use pure Peppermint Essential Oil, not a fragrance oil.

Oatmeal Bath Gel Recipe

To make a creamy bath gel, mix 1/4 cup dry oatmeal and 1 tsp. honey with enough milk to make it a paste. Put in the microwave for a few seconds to warm up and then use.

Peach Shower Gel Recipe

• 3/4 cup distilled water
• 1/4 cup shampoo concentrate and 1 teaspoon table salt OR
• 1/2 cup unscented shampoo and 1 1/2 teaspoon table salt
• 1 tablespoon apricot kernel oil
• 15 drops peach fragrance oil
• 5 drops vitamin E oil (2 oil capsules)
• 1 drop orange food coloring (optional)

Warm water and pour into a ceramic bowl. Add remaining of ingredients, stirring well until blended and thick. Pour into squeeze bottle and close.

Make Your Own Fun (and Natural) Glitter Gel

This is a fun recipe to  make with your teen daughter. It seems every girl loves a neat glitter gel and this one is awesome and non-toxic!

• 3 tbl. flax seed
• 1 cup water
• Mica pigment or non-toxic glitter
• Fragrance oil or Essential oil of choice

Mix seed and water and bring to a boil, remove, strain, allow to cool, add the glitter and scent. Strain it quickly because it gels very fast.
