Benefits: Avocado is a nourishing oil for hair and skin. It is said to be rich in essential and trace minerals and Vitamin A and its properties and texture makes it very suitable for use in hair care. Due to its aroma and thick, oily consistency, it is typically used highly diluted in blends and formulations. Great for dry or mature skins, or those suffering from eczema or psoriasis.
It is very useful when treating sun- or climate-damaged skin because it is believed to help with regenerating skin and softening tissue. Avocado oil is used to treat thickening (sclerosis) of the skin, gum infections (pyorrhea), and arthritis.
It is usually mixed with another carrier oil such as almond or grapeseed to make up 10 – 30 % of a blend. Small amounts of this oil are typically added to other carrier oils to enrich protein and vitamin content.
Good for Skin Types: Mature/Dry, Damaged, Skin Conditions Such as Eczema and Psoriasis, Normal/Combination
Chemical Analysis: Approximately 19% saturated fat, 66% oleic acid (omega-9 fatty acid), 12% linoleic acid (omega-6 essential fatty acid), less than 5% alpha linolenic acid (omega-3 essential fatty acid)
