Notes: Apricot kernel oil somewhat resembles Sweet Almond Oil in its properties and consistency. Its deep, nutty flavor makes it a good oil for use in cooking.

• Shelf Life: Up to 2 years with proper storage out of sunlight and in a cool place. Refrigeration is recommended.

Benefits: The semi-oily texture makes it a great choice for use in massage and massage oil blends. It is specifically beneficial when doing facial massage. Apricot kernel is particularly suited for dehydrated, delicate, mature and sensitive skin, and it soothes inflammation.

It can be applied under the eyes for healing dark circles and puffiness and strengthens the skin around the eyes. With regular use, it can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Apricot kernel oil promotes hair growth, reduces dry scalp issues, increases shine and when used as a hot oil treatment it conditions and nourishes hair.

Chemical Analysis: Approximately 65% oleic acid (an omega-9 fatty acid), 28% linoleic acid (an omega-6 essential fatty acid), less than 1% alpha linolenic acid (an omega-3 essential fatty acid)

Precautions: Generally considered safe to use topically. When used internally, however, it should be noted that apricot kernels contain a substance called amygdalin. This substance is converted by the body into cyanide, which is poisonous. This can lead to respiratory failure and may even be fatal.
