Benefits, Indications: Effective on chafed skin to soothe, massage of muscles for circulation, inhalant for respiratory and immune systems, effective at relieving itch of scabies, ringworm and eczema, as well as for relieving chapped hands and feet. Exotic aroma, anchoring, strengthening and imparts a rich, earthy scent to perfumes.
It is useful in bronchitis, chapped skin, colds, coughing, eczema, flu, poor circulation, rashes, sensitive skin, and stress.
Chemical Constituents: Ester. benzoic acid, cinnamic acid, benzyl benziate, benzyl cinnamate, cinnamyl cinnamate
Companion Oils: Cardamom, cedarwood, cinnamon, clove, fir balsam, jasmine, mandarin, orange, orris, patchouli, petitgrain, rose, sandalwood, tonka bean, tuberose, vanilla, violet leaf, ylang ylang
Precautions: Several sensitizing compounds are present in Balsam of Peru resin that are generally not found in the essential oil; published data do not support the conclusion that Balsam of Peru oil is a strong sensitizer. However, there is moderate risk of skin sensitization in the case of hypersensitive, diseased or damaged skin, and children under 2 years of age.
Maximum dermal use level for Balsam of Peru oil is 0.4% according to IFRA (International Fragrance Association) guidelines.
