Face Creams, Moisturizers

Rejuvenating Face Cream Recipe

  • 1 ounce Beeswax or lanolin
  • 3 ounces Almond oil
  • 4 (400 IU) Vitamin E capsules
  • 2 drops rose oil

Combine and heat over low heat until Beeswax is melted. Remove from heat and whip with a whisk until cool.

Sweet and Creamy Anti-Aging Cream

  • 1 ounce glycerin
  • 1 ounce witch hazel
  • 1/2 ounce rose water
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons wheat germ oil

Combine ingredients in a glass or ceramic bowl and gently whisk until they are thoroughly combined. Store the emulsion in a tightly sealed container at room temperature. It should last for at least 1 month.

Massage the solution into the skin around your eyes and mouth, using a circular and upward motion. This motion will counteract the natural pull of gravity. If you have the time, it’s a good idea to hang your head over the edge of the bed and massage the cream in while you’re partially upside down.

Olivia Cream For Dry, Sensitive Skin

Olivia Cream For Dry & Sensitive Skin is chock full of ingredients to help soothe and heal dry skin. It contains no aromatic additives though you can certainly add those of your choice. Use this cream as a soothing night cream or in the morning to nourish your skin at the start of the day.

  • 14 grams extra virgin olive oil
  • 10 grams  avocado oil
  • 2 grams evening primrose oil
  • 2 grams rose hips seed oil
  • 8 grams  emulsifying wax
  • 2 grams stearic acid
  • 30 grams distilled water
  • 3 grams aloe vera gel
  • 1 teaspoon borax
  • 1/8 teaspoon xanthan gum

1. Combine the olive oil, avocado oil, emulsifying wax and stearic acid in a large heat proof (I use Pyrex) glass measuring cup with a pour spout. Place the mixture in a hot water bath until the waxes are completely melted. Remove from heat. Add the evening primrose oil and rose hips seed oil and stir well to incorporate.

2. Place the water, aloe vera gel, borax and xanthan gum in a separate Pyrex cup and warm for about 15 minutes in a hot water bath.

3. After stirring the oils/waxes together to make sure they are evenly combined, begin stirring the oil/wax mixture with an electric mixer on medium speed and add the water mixture as you stir. You will see the mixture begin to thicken as you blend it. Continue mixing until until Olivia Cream For Dry & Sensitive Skin is thick and rich. This should take about 5 minutes at most.

4. Pour warm Olivia Cream For Dry & Sensitive into clean jars and allow to cool before capping. (As always, you can include the preservative of your choice in this recipe.)

Natural Makeup Remover, Moisturizer

  • 1/2 cup paraffin
  • 1 cup mineral oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp alum

Slowly heat paraffin with the oil in a double boiler. In a separate saucepan, heat the water until it simmers, then dissolve the alum in it. Let cool, then add to the warm mineral oil and paraffin mixture. As everything cools, the paraffin will rise to the top. Drain off the water. The residue is your makeup remover.

Moisturizing Vitamin E Cream

This cream is very moisturizing and emollient. It is nice for rough, dry, or chapped complexions and should help promote healthy looking skin.

  • 4 oz. sweet Almond oil
  • 1 oz. Beeswax
  • 2 oz. water
  • 10 drops Vitamin E Oil
  • 10 drops Lavender essential oil

Melt the oil and the wax in a double boiler, Remove from heat, add water, and stir thoroughly. Add Vitamin E, essential oil and stir continuously until cool. After you have added the essential oil and the cream is still warm enough to pour, carefully pour it into Salve Jars or Metal Tins.

Basic Cold Cream Vanishing Formula

The ingredients are available from most health food stores.

  • 1 ounce jojoba
  • 1 ounce grapeseed oil
  • 1/2 to 1 ounce beeswax (less for a thinner cream)
  • 2 ounces distilled or filtered water
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin
  • 10 drops mint oil or other essential oil of choice (optional)
  • 40 drops grapefruit seed extract as a preservative

Combine the oils and beeswax in a double boiler and melt. Remove from the heat and pour in the remaining ingredients; mix with an electric hand held mixer until the cream is thick and creamy. Makes 3/4 cup. Store in a glass jar with a screw top. Discard after 6 months (or sooner if mold begins to grow).

How to Make Cocoa Butter Eye Cream

  • 2 Tbsp petroleum jelly
  • 2 Tbsp cocoa butter
  • 2 Tbsp coconut oil

Mix all of the ingredients together in an ovenproof glass container. Heat gently in the microwave or in a water bath (place the glass pitcher in a pan with 1 or 2 inches of water and heat). Pour into a clean container and cool completely; the mixture will solidify as it cools. Use nightly around your eyes. Yields 3 oz.

(The sensitive skin under the eye needs extra care and conditioning. Cocoa Butter has been used for years to treat age lines around the eyes and mouth. It helps soften and protect delicate skin. This eye cream is rich, so a small amount is all that is needed nightly)

Aloe and Rose Facial Cream Recipe

  • 3 TBS. herbal oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp. coconut oil
  • 1 3/4 tsp. cocoa butter
  • 1/4 tsp. lanolin
  • 1/2 tsp. (.10 ounce) beeswax
  • 2 TBS. distilled water
  • 1 3/4 tsp. rose water
  • 3/4/ tsp. glycerin
  • 1 TBS. Aloe Vera gel
  • 1 drop Tea Tree essential oil

Melt the oils, Cocoa Butter, Beeswax and lanolin over low heat. Allow mixture to cool to room temperature. The oil and water mixtures need to be the same temperature for cream to be successful.Put the distilled water, Rose Water, Glycerin, Aloe Vera and Tea Tree oil into a blender.

Turn it on medium- high speed then begin to drizzle in the oil mixture. Continue until all the oil is added or until the blender begins to slow down and acts as if it will stop.

The mixture should look thick and creamy. Pour into containers and label. The Tea Tree oil is added to help prevent molds and bacteria from growing. I recommend that you make small batches and that you keep extra cream in the refrigerator. If you keep a container in the bathroom it will stay good for two – three weeks.

Healing, Nourishing Facial Oils

Chamomile and Ylang-Ylang Face Elixir

Face elixirs are nothing like commercial night creams-more like a treat than a treatment. On a clean face before bed, the elixir melts into the skin in about 20 minutes, leaving no oily residue. You drift off to sleep amid beautiful aromas and wake up to skin that feels soft and smells beautiful.

This particular elixir is best for normal or sensitive skin. The bright apple fragrance of the Chamomile combines with the sweetness of the Ylang-Ylang to create an easy, fruity fragrance, comforting to mind and body.

Chamomile is soothing, and Ylang-Ylang helps regulate the skin. The base oils of apricot kernel, squalene, and rose hip seed oils are emollient and rejuvenating and easily absorbed into the skin.

  • 10 milliliters apricot kernel oil
  • 2 1/2 milliliters squalene
  • 2 1/2 millileters rose hip seed oil
  • 6 drops of Chamomile Oil
  • 4 drops of Ylang-Ylang Oil

Combine the apricot kernel oil with the squalene and rose hip seed oil. Stir with a stirring stick to mix. Add the drops of essences. Store in a small bottle and keep for up to 4 months. Shake before using.

Dry Skin Nourishing Blend

To nourish and enrich dry skin for a face soft to the touch, even in texture and color, eased of restraint, and freely expressing the woman’s unique beauty and multifaceted femininity…combine

  • Neroli 2 drops
  • Chamomile 1 drop
  • Sweet Almond oil or unperfumed moisturizer 1 tablespoon

One of the most costly and luxurious of oils, Neroli is also one of the most nourishing. Particularly when combined with healing Chamomile, this blend excels at restoring natural lubrication to dry skin.

In addition, the delicate fragrance of Orange blossoms and sunny Chamomile helps promote a state of inner calm where, with tenderness and patience, the character of the woman so finely etched in her face may be gracefully accepted.

Amazing Rose Face Oil

  • Rose Hip Seed Oil
  • Rosewood Oil
  • Rose Geranium Oil
  • Sandalwood Oil
  • 10ml colored glass bottle

Add rose hip seed oil to a clean, sanitized colored glass bottle. Add 5 drops of Rosewood oil. Add 3 drops of rose Geranium oil. Add 2 drops of Sandalwood oil. Apply by small amounts to face and neck after washing and toning.

Tips:

1. Frankincense or Myrrh oils are great substitutes for the Sandalwood.
2. I have blended the rose hip seed oil with Jojoba, my personal preference is to use the rose hip seed oil alone as the base. It is pricier, but worth it.

Neroli Complexion Serum Recipe

This fragrant face oil will nourish and tone the skin. Exposure to the elements and overheated homes during cooler months are two reasons people experience dry skin.

Other culprits are synthetic soaps and alcohol-based toners, which strip moisture from the skin. People often assume that their faces are clean when the skin feels tight after cleansing, but this is really just the surfactants removing the good oils that protect your skin.

Most people are reluctant to apply oils to their face for fear that it will clog the pores or cause the skin to break out. This is absolutely not true if you are using genuine essential oils and an organic carrier oil. In Europe, oils for the face are an accepted part of skin care.

This complexion serum has a base of hazelnut oil, which is slightly astringent and is absorbed quite readily into the skin, and borage seed oil, which is high in gamma linoleic acid, a fatty acid found in collagen.

These oils alone will feed the skin better than any synthetic compounds found in commercial cosmetic preparations. Neroli is particularly valuable in this blend for its ability to regulate activity of the capillaries and restore vitality to the skin.

Makes 1/2 ounce

  • 1/2 ounce glass bottle
  • 1/4 ounce hazelnut oil
  • 1 drop Lavender
  • 2 drops Sandalwood
  • 2 drops Rose
  • 3 drops Neroli
  • 1/4 ounce borage seed oil

Fill the bottle partway with hazelnut oil. Add Essential Oils, cover, and shake well. Top off with borage seed oil, cover, and agitate a second time. To use, apply 3-4 drops to moist cotton pad and wipe over damp face. For added benefit, use in conjunction with Floral Waters.

The naturally balancing oil of Geranium and the exceptionally regenerative properties of Lavender make this facial unguent a superb choice for women with the gift, either natural or acquired, of great-looking skin.
